According to Aacharya Charaka there is nothing on the earth which is not medicine. That’s why Ayurveda considers all substances as medicine, if used for specific purposes in an appropriate way. In recent years, global awareness on use of medicinal plants as "Natural Medicine" has drawn the world to look back into ancient heritage of India - Ayurveda. Dravyaguna Vigyan is a complete science of medicinal plants, which deals with pharmacokinetics and pharmcodynamics of medicinal plants. It also deals with pharmacognosy of medicinal plants i.e identification, collection, storage and preservation of raw materials of plant origin.
Department of Dravyaguna Vigyan has a well equipped laboratory and museum of crude and wet specimens, herbal garden spread across sufficient area. Adequate no. of plants and species are available in herbal garden.Department conducts Induction program every year for Under-graduate students. Timely organizes workshop and hands on training in field of Plant identification (Basic botany), sampling techniques, pharmacognostic studies, herbarium preparation techniques.
